POEMS
When the Past Calls.....
He lied on the lush grass
Contemplating about his life
When he heard a melancholy song
That drew him in and like a fluid flowed in his mind
The words of the song reminded him of a past
That was now dead and forgotten
Hidden in a forbidden land
That no one sane dared to trespass
The plaintive song struck his heart strings hard
A lump formed in his throat
Making him cough hard
The tune started to sting ripping his ears
He felt as if blood was spurting out from within
Dysphoria wrapped around him like a venomous shroud
While he jerked in hysteric directions
Like a madman he shouted
Lord! Save me! Save me!
As the song came to a halt
He tried to regain his calm
Tears burned at the back of his eyes
Through excruciating pain
He remembered the words of the Psalm
“Even though I walk through the valley
of the shadow of death
I fear no evil, for you, are with me”
As he strengthened his resolve
Shoving away his dreaded past
And continued his lone journey
On an unknown, less travelled path
When the past calls
It makes him stumble and fall
Subtly poisoning his conscience
Inch by inch breaking his resilience
Making him dead and hollow
Through every passing mile
"My Sins"
O! My love, O! My sweet
I ask thou to slay me
For my sins have hurt thee
Allow my slaughtered body to lie in thy feet
Futile is my existence
I feel like a nonentity
As my unholy deeds
Have bruised not just one but many
I am the reason behind the tears
Which trickle down thine eyes
I am the one whose malice
Has caused this apocalyptic tide
O! My love, O! My sweet
Thy honey smooth skin
Is covered in blisters because of me
I beg thy sacred soul to rupture my grotesque heart!
And wing it in a far off sea
"Pride"
Something was eating his insides
Unaware of this truth he walked down the aisle
Considering himself and his manners the best of all
Exhibiting the classical demeanour of the aristocracy
Narcism ripping off his prudence
Vanity had shaken his wisdom
It had stripped him off his rationality
Trapping him in a maze of false pride
Forgotten he had his felicity
His eyes looked at the populace in disdain
Ostentation surrounded him from every corner
And it was not long before
His ego, he was not able to bear
In the pool of self importance
He had lost his near and dear
Affectation had vexed his nerves
Affliction which was unknown till now
Became a very close friend somehow
A huge county he may own
But its use was not known
As there lived no one he loved
Except his pompous soul
Lost in his thoughts he wondered
What had caused such turmoil?
That was when he reflected upon his selfish ways
Diamonds, rubies, emeralds
May fancy your psyche
People's praises may raise your stature high
But n'er should they turn you into
A conceited beast who receives
From the world hate, hate and only hate.....
"Boys don't Cry"
Smiling, laughing, jumping
Beaming with extravagant light
He ran through the meadows hoping
That his father would take him to the wonder Park tonight
But his father couldn’t make it
Since he had a night shift
And little Jimmy couldn’t resist
His innocent tears from dripping
He tried hard to pull his tears in
But they shamelessly slipped
His mother patted his back asking him
To be a strong guy
As according to her and this Utopian world
“Boys don’t cry”
Young Jimmy walked with a sore eye to his house
After getting bullied by Big Barry Fry
His father asked him to man up and stop being a mouse
As according to him and many a folks alike
“Boys don’t cry”
He smashed the ball into the goal
Leading his team to victory
And flung into his father’s arms
Wishing to achieve his sympathy
Adolescent years passed by
Times came which made him want to cry
But he had to hide his tears
As according to this ideal world
“Boys don’t cry”
Time passed
His dreams did shatter ripping him apart
Devastation gripped him breaking his heart
But still he pulled his tears back
He had to try!
Because according to this flawless world
“Boys don’t cry”
The summer of ’59 brought him lady luck
But who knew, innocent Jimmy
Had turned into an evil schmuck
Bruising his wife to death
Gave him eternal peace and rest
Making up for all those moments
Which were supposed to be dry?
As now even according to him
“Boys don’t cry”
I........
Devastation grips me i can't find my way out
"Where are you my savior?" My heart shouts
But there was nothing, no one but eerie darkness
Surrounding me and pulling me into the emptiness
Oh Lord! I cried in the dark of the night
Would my life ever be beautiful and bright?
There was nobody who answered or even cared to listen
The noise of my soul, ravaged and broken
I ran and ran and ran
But could not find the gate
That would lead me out of this pit of misery to a place where i could find peace again
Fear hammer locked me
Leaving me in a tousled state
Pain engulfed my body
Severely wounding my gait
Tears flooded out of my eyes
I could see my end approaching
I lied on the dead leaves
And started weeping
Not a single soul heard my sobs
Nobody came to my rescue
A venomous gale hit me
And i knew i wouldn't make through
My heart dropped
I was ready to die
I had accepted my fate
But suddenly i heard a voice, wry
"Don't let your strength fade
Protect it before it's too late."
Those words sank in my skin
And gave me courage to stand and up was my chin
The world may not be in my favor
But i will always be
Don't need any savior
As a rescuer lies within me
I mustered all the courage that i could
And the invisible manacles around my wrists broke
My cry pierced the night
And a ball of light blinded my sight
I heaved the luminous cannon in the air
The ball tore the darkness
And the entire forest illuminated
Sunlight once again fell on my face
As i gazed
At the beauty of mother nature
That reflected the beauty of my own stature
A triumphant smile plastered my face
As i wondered in amazement
